Construction Safety Manager
We are seeking a highly qualified Construction Safety Manager to lead safety operations at a GMP-regulated facility construction site. The selected candidate must have a solid background in construction safety, permit-to-work systems, job safety analysis (JSA), inspections, among others, and regulatory compliance in GMP environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and enforce all aspects of the site-specific safety program in alignment with OSHA, EPA, GMP, and local regulatory requirements.
Conduct and review Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for critical construction tasks, including high-risk activities (confined space, electrical, hot work, etc.).
Oversee and manage Permit to Work (PTW) systems, including issuing, reviewing, and closing permits (hot work, confined space, energy isolation, etc.).
Perform regular site inspections, audits, and walkdowns to proactively identify and mitigate hazards.
Maintain and enforce compliance with cGMP requirements during construction in or near operational areas.
Facilitate daily toolbox talks, pre-task safety briefings, and onboarding training for workers and contractors.
Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, ensuring documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions are completed.
Serve as the safety liaison between the owner, contractors, and EHS representatives, including participation in project meetings and safety committees.
Track and report on EHS metrics and KPIs to internal stakeholders and clients
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering required).
Minimum 5 years of safety experience in construction, preferably in GMP, pharmaceutical, or life sciences facilities.
Proven experience with Permit to Work programs, JSAs, construction safety inspections, and compliance documentation.
Certification in OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety (required).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in active construction environments (both indoor and outdoor).
Physically able to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and navigate uneven terrain throughout the workday.
Comfortable with wearing required PPE including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respirators when necessary.
Able to conduct inspections in mechanical spaces, confined areas, and elevated locations.
You must be able to commute to the site since relocation package is not available.
